Some people love television, others hate it (how can you hate television). I fall somewhere inbetween. For the majority of the time I love television. It offers so much and asks for nothing in return.The downside of the rectangular, radioactive, glowing box of images is the bad programming. There are too many shows out there that are just horrendous.
This blog will be my forum to bestow upon you what I enjoy about television and what I very much loathe. I will also discuss "Programs of the Past", a look back at shows of greatness or forgotteness, and shows that should have stayed forgotten, but for one reason or another aren't around anymore (either by axe or exit.) The state of television needs to be analyzed.
Let's get started with the biggest televised event of the year...Super Bowl XLIV (if you're not familar with roman numerals...44) I am a huge fan of the NFL and this was a great game. I must also mention that I picked the Saints to win the Grand Daddy of em all before the season kicked off (fine don't believe me, there are people out the who know this to be true) I remained confident before the playoffs started and took them in my pool. But I digress. The game was great but there are, and always will be, those who tune into this massive spectacle solely for the commercials. I can understand this phenomenon as a student of advertising (not too many standouts), but the contest that took place in Miami is not to be overlooked.
From one great game to a pile of garbage. The networks have a tradition of following the Super Bowl with a big show (too keep the massive audience.) This year CBS tore down all the walls of entertainment that restrain imaginative thinking and brought us the epic television event...."Undercover Boss" ??? really? WTF? why? who cares? I saw previews for this gem (sarcasm..look it up kids) on CBS for a solid month before it aired....my first impression was "must miss" ...and I'm glad to say I did. For anyone out there who enjoyed "Undercover Boss" you need to find a role model. Is this what television has come to? Brah!
